Lucy Stein, whose paintings and drawings were shown by SMBA last fall in what was her first large survey exhibition, has won not only the Royal Prize for Painting but also a Buning Brongers prize.
This latter is awarded every year by the Titia Buning-Brongers Foundation. In December, 2006, Stein and ten other artists received the prize, which consists of the sum of 4,500 euro per person. There was also a brief exhibition in Arti to accompany it. The Royal Prize for Autonomous Painting was presented to a total of four artists on October 6, each of whom received 6,000 euro. Further, work by Lucy Stein is also to be seen in the Municipal Art Acquisitions exhibition ?Just in Time? in Stedelijk Museum CS, running through March 11, 2007.
