Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (SMBA) is a project space of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, located in the city centre. The objective of SMBA is to present contemporary art from an Amsterdam context and therefore to create an international platform by organizing exhibitions, lectures, debates, publications and residency programmes.
Leontine Coelewij was SMBA curator from 1993 to 1997. Martijn van Nieuwenhuyzen was SMBA curator from 1998 upto and including 2005. Jelle Bouwhuis was SMBA curator from 2006 to 1 July 2016.
Since the founding in 1993, many artists have exhibited in the SMBA. Click here for an alphabetic list of artists who worked with SMBA.
