informal strategies, 'Tower Upside Down', 2013

Saturday, 5 October 2013

Time: 2 - 5 p.m.

Free admittance

As the second 'act' in the 'Scenographies' programme, the collective informal strategies (Doris Denekamp and Geert van Mil, in collaboration with Matthijs van Wageningen) have created a new multi-media installation in the space of the SMBA entitled, 'Tower Upside Down' (2013). The work, which will be on view from 05-19.10.13, is the result of an investigation into the backstage mechanisms of governmental support of public art and with that, art's role in the construction of the Welfare State and 'modern public'. On Saturday 5 October 2013 from 14.00-17.00 the artists will be present in the space and refreshments served.

Please be reminded that on 10 October 2013 from 20.00-21.30, informal strategies will be the first artists in the series of talks, 'Prologues', hosted by guest curator, Alexandra Landré. The 'Prologues' programme and information on the parallel reading group can be found here: http://www.smba.nl/en/news. All are welcome!
